Sunday Eeeeeevening

Do you ever wonder what I do at 9:31 on a Sunday night?

I’ll tell you anyways!

I’m sitting on the hard floor, painting the final stroke of top coat on my kitchen island, sipping a little bourbon, listening to Yanni, and thinking about the Guacamole Slide.

Did you have a Guacamole Slide when you were in the second grade? I did! Well, Kenson named it, and we guarded it from the other kids on the playground.

She obviously had a much more sophisticated palette than I did since I didn’t know what guacamole was until I was in college!

I only thought of this because the slide was green, and I’m working on my green (teal) island- which, by the way, is officially tamed, like an exotic tiger from Burma.

It only thought it was wild until it saw my children, and then it threw in the towel, and it was smooth sailing after that. Haha, sorry, I included a few too many metaphors there.

These things tend to happen when you’re drinking bourbon and getting high on Polycrylic!

Two months ago I posted Taming The Teal to chronicle my kitchen island project.

I think there’s a 0% chance I will repaint it now!

Before, I gave it a 60% chance. I think the transition from dark red to teal was a little too shocking, and it took some getting used to.

And, of course, I also tamed it by muting the intensity of the color with a brown glaze. Yesterday I touched up the brown glaze to try to make it a little less streaky, and today I put on two coats of Polycrylic.

I used this stuff on the cabinets by our dining table.

It has truly saved the paint job from destruction since Luke throws food on them at EVERY meal.

I’ve moved on to Breathe Deep Tea.

And now that I’ve immortalized these leggings, it’s time to throw them in the trash. I discovered a hole on the side of the knee today while sliding (scooching) down a two story curly cue slide in a mini skirt.

They already have a giant hole around the belly button. Lyla thinks it’s hilarious and asks me to pull up my skirt to show it to her. I’ll spare you the pic on this one.

Anywho, since it’s getting late, I’ll call this a wrap. Just thought I’d share my random Sunday evening with y’all.

Sweet Dreams!

    1. Haha great minds think alike. I needed that for my project tonight- sanding the top of the island. Instead I had a vest wrapped around my face to ward off dust so it wasn’t a good environment for bourbon or tea!

      1. Yes, I have many projects to tackle! I started working on the island top on a whim, and it’s one of those projects that needs to just be finished once it’s started. My shoulders are so sore from sanding! It’s turning into a beast of a project…
